From: Memoirs of the Geological Survey of India, Vol. 99: Indian Meteorites by M. V. N. Murthy, S. N. P. Srivastava and Ananda
Dube, 1968:
A large stone, rather more than 25 lbs in weight fell after an explosion was heard from a distance of 25 miles of the
stone recovered from this fall (12.8 kg) indicates that the original stone was more likely about 29 lbs in weight. The grater
part of the recovered mass (12,051 grams) is in the British Museum. C.A. Silberred, Mineral Mag. 23, No. 149, p. 301, (1932)
states: It is said to have fallen at Duralla, 30°20`; N., 76° 41`; E., 17 miles from Ambala in Patiala State. The one inch
map shows no such village, but there are two villages Surala Kalan and Surala Khurd at 30° 18`; N., 76° 38`; E., 13 miles
S. by E. of Rajpura (North Western Railway). He adds that Durala is probably a mistranslation of Surala. (Coulson, 1940, p.
84).
